Storyville was a Dual Guitar-Driven,
Blues/Rock Band formed in 1994 in Austin, Tx.
Drummer Chris Layton & bassist Tommy Shannon, former members of Arc Angels & 'Double Trouble' Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm section formed the band with singer Malford Milligan & noted guitar slingers David Holt & David Grissom - formerly with John Mellencamp, after a jam session at Antone's in Austin.
After releasing an album on November Records in 1994 "Bluest Eyes", the band won a total of nine Austin Music awards; they became stalwarts on the local music scene and toured nationally. They subsequently signed to major label Atlantic Records, for whom they recorded two albums before breaking up.
The single "Born Without You", from their 1998 release Dog Years, reached #28 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The Band Members still reunite at Antone's once or twice a year to make Storyville music...they also produced & released a Live DVD back in 2007 "Live At Antones". Malford tours around the country with his own band.
I heard them Live in Tulsa twice...They opened for the Fabulous Thunderbirds once at the Cain's with The Bill Davis Band (Whom I was friends with & partied with after their set) and I heard them again at the Original Sunset Grill when it was on Brookside for $6... Since then Malford has been here quite a few times...at the casinos & even most recent at All Soul Acoustic Coffee House - where he signed my ticket stub - and sings a bunch of Storyville songs every time he comes !! - c.f.
Below are some tracks from both albums.... the top 8 tracks are from "A Piece of Your Soul - 1996", which features 11 tracks total, the bottom 8 tracks are from "Dog Years - 1998", which features 12 tracks total, followed by a few of my favorite tracks from the debut (prelude) album:
"Bluest Eyes - 1994" >>> N-JOY !! - c.f.
